Daniel Borsos thumbnail
Daniel Borsos A collection of beautiful, nostalgic songs - memories from a generation that is passing away. The sometimes wistful, sometimes joyful arrangements fit seamlessly with the lyrics. There’s a gospel music vibe in several of the tunes. Well done Steve & friends. Favorite track: Lift Your Voice.

It's nearly time to head for home Cockpits dark I see the lights Pilot radios words that we don't want to hear There's an enemy stuck our rear Parachute on my back Time to abandon this craft Pull the chord and cross my fingers and toes Jump out into the cold unknown Falling Will I make it out alive? Falling Will I ever be alright? Surely, I'll make it I'll make it won't I? Sit on the muddy ground Distant dog bark welcomes me Walk slowly to the flickering light An old door welcomes me in tonight They change my airman's jacket So I won't be recognised The fear is creeping into my mind Good luck now follow the old rail line Walking Will I make it out alive Walking Will I ever be alright? Surely, I'll make it I'll make it won't I? Oh oh oh oh the days rolled into one Oh oh oh oh the lonely nights were so long For 14 days I avoided their gaze For 14 days I've made it back to the line Somehow still alive But they didn't think that I would survive The Caterpillar Club is my prize Oh oh oh oh the days rolled into one Oh oh oh oh the lonely nights were so long For 14 days I avoided their gaze For 14 days

Come on Joan, come on Joan, give us a song When I was a little girl My father drove the trains Up and down the country All the night and day Our dear little old dog Pinning after him Barking, going crazy When father was on the way My auntie always said Come on Joan, come on Joan, give us a song Lift your voice and you'll feel a little more strong When the music's in our soul, we can all sing along Come on Joan, come on Joan, give us a song. When I spent my days Riveting the planes The hours were so long But the workers my friends We'd gather every lunchtime Just to lighten up our day We'd laugh and we'd tell jokes And sometimes share a song Cause my auntie always said Come on Joan, come on Joan, give us a song Lift your voice and you'll feel a little more strong When the music's in our soul, we can all sing along Come on Joan, come on Joan, give us a song. I'd travel on the railway Almost each weekend Head to the blue café To meet the soldier boys After singing and dancing We'd be in her big grand house Sitting around the fireplace Oh how I miss those days Cause my auntie always said Come on Joan, come on Joan, give us a song Lift your voice and you'll feel a little more strong When the music's in our soul, we can all sing along Come on Joan, come on Joan, give us a song.

n the morning light It will be alright Days are bright With the morning light. The clouds break As she sits and waits For the new day to begin She waits with her sister And snuggles right into her skin The warm embrace Kisses her face as the sun rises over the hill She climbs the tree to Gather the treasure But mother shouts Blossom come down from that tree You'll always matter to me. In the morning light It will be alright Days are bright With the morning light. When you feel the morning light Everything's alright So hold on tight Til the morning light As the darkness falls And she's still awake Monotony starts to set in Her factory grafting It gets right under her skin The cold of the night Pulls out her fight as The nine-to-five begins She works all the hours Puts bread on the table Determined to make It To see through the darkness And do it all by herself In the morning light It will be alright Days are bright With the morning light. When you feel the morning light Everything's alright So hold on tight Til the morning light When you feel the morning light Everything's alright So hold on tight Til the morning light

Come in out of the rain Nice to see you again Kettles on my dear, Will you lend your ear to me? She takes down the dusty box Treasures just waiting to be found The sadness of voices past Joys of the loves she holds so dear I was just waiting to say hello to you To sit beside you and share a tale or two The sun it shines a little bit brighter When I laugh and cry with you. Tender old memories Sleeping underneath my bed Remember the fiery night The day that the city set a light Dancing with Mister Moore Days of silver and of gold I never did find that ring Such is life so I’m told I was just waiting to say hello to you To sit beside you and share a tale or two The sun it shines a little bit brighter When I laugh and cry with you. I was just waiting to say hello to you To sit beside you and share a tale or two The sun it shines a little bit brighter The sun it shines a little bit brighter When I laugh and cry with you. We used to be strangers But today I call you friend More than good neighbours We talk and we put the world to rights

Tick tock clock Life don't stop On and on Working feet Steady beat On and on See the morning dew The stranger smiling Back at you Take it all in Stoney ground Lingering clouds On and on Stories last Seasons pass On and on See the cherry blossom bloom Catch the laughter in the room Breathe it all in Days are made for living Don't let them pass you by There's beauty in the moment you'll find Take each step as it comes Look each day in the eye There's always beauty in the moments you'll find Rainbows come With good news on the radio Feel the breeze Through whispering trees Lift your head Catch a falling star Dance right on through the dark Soak it all in Days are made for living Don't let them pass you by There's beauty in the moment you'll find Take each step as it comes Look each day in the eye There's always beauty in the moments you'll find You live in it You work in it You don't always notice it Don't forget to take it all in Days are made for living Don't let them pass you by There's beauty in the moment you'll find Take each step as it comes Look each day in the eye There's always beauty in the moments you'll find

Just another Monday morning Like any other day Washings on, teas a brewing Dogs getting in the way The postman comes, letters fall Darling come and see There’s a crown on the crisp-white envelope Why would she write to me? We should all take a little more time We should all be a little more kind It’s a cloudy Wednesday morning The days are passing by Striking keys, writing letters, Hoping they’ll reply A knock at the door, hello miss I bet you don’t remember us We recall all our adventures And the time you gave to us We should all take a little more time We should all be a little more kind It’s sunny Friday morning A surprising one for me Posh clothes, nerves a plenty We’re seeing the Queen for tea Taxi drives down the Mal Flags come into view Cream cakes and crustless sandwiches only the best for you We should all take a little more time We should all be a little more kind We should all take a little more time We should all be a little more kind We should all take a little more time We should all be a little more kind We should all take a little more time We should all be a little more kind Just another Monday morning.

about

Back in the Day is a collection of beautiful songs inspired by amazing people from Coventry. In a project funded by The National Lottery Community Fund, Steve worked with Good Neighbours, a Coventry-based charity, that support lonely and isolated older people by linking them with volunteer befrienders. Steve met 6 of these older people to hear about their lives and listen to their personal stories, which he then used as the inspiration for new songs. From a courageous WWII airman who was shot down over enemy lines, to a wonderful lady who arrived in the UK from Jamaica to see snow for the first time and a kind-hearted women who had tea with Queen Elizabeth II, all the songs tell the tales of these inspiring Coventry people.

The EP was recorded in Stylusboy’s own home studio, The Truffle Room, where he played all the instruments himself; electric and acoustic guitars, bass and electronic beats and synths. Critically acclaimed America singer songwriter Alva Leigh contributes harmonies, as well as rising folk star Lauren South adding violin on two tracks.
